“I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special,” added Koy. “I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year. This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud.”

His Stage Name Is Actually a Nickname
Born Joseph Glenn Herbert, the comedian’s stage name is actually a nickname given to him by his family growing up. He revealed the cute meaning during a stand-up routine in 2019, noting that back in 1989, he was discussing making a stage name with his cousin. At the time, his aunt called him to come to dinner, shouting “Jo Ko, eat!” — Ko means “my” in Tagalog, making Jo Ko mean “my Jo.” He thought she said “Koy” instead of “Ko,” liked the sound of it, and has used Jo Koy has his stage name ever since.
