Listen: Wilco Unveil 2023 Recommends Playlist, Featuring Top Music Picks

Wilco have shared their yearly Recommends playlist, which reflects favorites from the Chicago-based ensemble. Included are albums chosen by group members Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche, Mikael Jorgensen, Nels Cline and Pat Sansone. 

Other picks, such as Beverly Glenn-Copeland’s The Ones Ahead, Anna St Louis’ In the Air, A Savage’s Several Songs About Fire, Lael Neale’s Star Eaters Delight, Mark McGuire’s A Pocket Full of Rain, The Feelies’ Some Kinda Love: Performing the Music of the Velvet Underground and a throwback Jimi Hendrix Experience live album, Live At The Hollywood Bowl: August 18, 1967, are also featured. 

The final list includes 76 albums, while the playlist contains 86 songs and over seven hours of music. An added feature of this year’s list indicates artists who will participate in Wilco’s 2024 Solid Sound Festival bill and their Recommends playlist, such as Fenne Lily, Iris DeMent, Joanna Sternberg, Ratboys, Wednesday, and more. 

Wilco Recommends goes on to note the material that received multiple recommendations from band members, including Lana Del Rey’s Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd, Sleaford Mods’ UK Grim, Lankum’s False Lankum, and their own Cate Le Bon-produced Cousins.
