Last night, Jan. 18, moe. set off on its winter tour with a performance at Observatory North Park in San Diego, Calif. The night featured a surprise rendition of Stone Temple Pilots’ “Interstate Love Song.” This cover of the iconic ’90s grunge act’s most recognizable track appears as a loving tribute to the group for a performance in their home city. As Stone Temple Pilots’ triumphant second album, 1994’s Purple, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, this homage to their legacy could not have come at a better time.

moe. opened its set with “St. Augustine,” the second cut of its first major label release, No Doy (1996), transitioning into a medley of “32 Things,” “Dangerous Game,” Nate Wilson’s “In Stride” and “Haze” before closing the first set with a combination of “Tomorrow is Another Day” and “Mexico.” The latter portion of the show began with a mix of “Opium” and “Big World,” followed by “Ricky Marten,” “Plane Crash,” and finally “Recreational Chemistry” to conclude the show’s second set. After it all, the band returned to the stage for its striking Stone Temple Pilots encore with vocals from Rob Derhak.

Tonight, Jan 19., moe. will play at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, Calif. For further details on moe.’s winter tour, visit moe.org/tour.
