Spotify and Snapchat team up to launch a new lens that lets you capture yourself and your surroundings to share music in a whole new way.

Spotify has teamed up with Snapchat to launch a new lens to enable users to share their favorite songs on the social media app. “Share Track Lens” lets you capture yourself and your surroundings on camera while sharing a song. The lens overlays information about the song and a link to listen to it on Spotify.

To try this feature, first make sure your Spotify and Snapchat apps are up to date. Then you can select a track on Spotify that you want to share, open the share menu, and tap the Snapchat Lens icon. That lens will automatically generate the track information on Snapchat, including the song title, artist’s name, cover art, and a link to the track when you share the Snap to your Story or with your friends.

Of course, Snapchat enthusiasts will know that users have actually had the ability to share what they’re listening to on Spotify since 2019 — but you couldn’t do it while capturing yourself or your surroundings. With the new Share Track Lens, you can share a song alongside an image, similar to the way songs can be shared on Instagram.

“Whether it’s your signature song or a new single you can’t stop playing on repeat, the music you love to listen to is a part of who you are,” says Spotify. “And we know Spotify users regularly share the music they’re loving with friends, as the number of songs shared to social media platforms grow each year. When sharing tracks from Spotify to Snapchat, you can now put you and your friends in the spotlight.”

The new feature starts rolling out globally today for Android and iOS users in regions where both Snapchat and Spotify are available.
