Roblox has released its Q4 2023 and full year 2023 financial results, revealing a 22% year-over-year increase in average daily active users and 15.5 billion hours played for the Q4 period. Here’s the latest.

For Q4, Roblox saw revenue of $74.9 million, up 30% year-over year. The company also crossed $1.13 billion (up 25% YoY) in quarterly bookings for the first time—driven by holiday in-game purchases. Bookings are generated from in-game purchases of its virtual currency called ‘Robux’—reaching between $4.14 billion and $4.28 billion for the entire year.

Another highlight for the report is average daily active users (DAUs) reaching 71.5 million, which is up 22% YoY. Average monthly unique payers reached 15.9 million, up 18% YoY and contributing to that new record for quarterly bookings. Kids and college students are home for the holidays, helping to drive a surge of in-game spending.

Roblox users spent 15.5 billion hours playing the game in Q4, up 21% year-over-year. For the entire year of 2023, Roblox users spent 60 billion hours playing the game, which is up 22% YoY. So not only are users playing the game more, they’re spending more in it when they do. Bookings per monthly unique payer was $23.65, up 6% YoY. Roblox reports most of that growth comes from older users who are 13+.

“A slow and steady improvement in the core technology has allowed our developer communities to build better stuff—which hahs naturally attracted an older audience,” Roblox CFO Michael Guthrhie told investors. The company has worked at expanding and diversifying its player base. It’s also struck huge partnerships with brands like Warner Music, L’Oreal, Lamborghini, and featured many music acts.

“We ended the year with our strongest rate of quarterly bookings growth in two years and delivered our first quarter of $1 billion in bookings,” Guthrie adds. “We are scaling our operations efficiently, thereby improving our margins and cash flow, and we expect those trends to continue in 2024.
