Orebolo Cover Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” and More at The Capitol Theatre

Orebolo took the stage last night, Feb. 8, at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. for the first date in a three-night run. Through the evening, the acoustic trio–composed of Goose’s Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach and Jeff Arevalo–debuted numerous cover and new Orebolo renditions of Goose classics. This performance marks the band members’ first live appearance since Goose announced its new drummer, released its teased project Ted Tapes 2024 and unveiled its summer tour plans earlier this week.

After opening with “Lead the Way” and “Elizabeth,” Orebolo introduced a fresh rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright.” Next, the band played “Turbulence & The Night Rays,” first performed by Goose precursor Vasudo in 2012, followed by its first treatment of “Not Alone” and a debut of Isley Juber’s “No California.” To wrap the first set, the trio staged its first acoustic cover of Chick Corea’s “Spain,” into Orebolo original “Dim Lights” and finally “So Ready,” Goose’s runaway hit off 2022’s Shenanigans Nite Club.

To begin its second set, Orebolo presented “Turned Clouds,” then went on with an unfinished performance of “Arrow” and a debut cover of Chris Thompson’s “Where is My Wild Rose.” Later, the group returned to its time-honored covers of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World” and the Grateful Dead’s “New Speedway Boogie” before finally closing the second set with Goose classic “Arcadia.” The trio returned for an encore with “Arise,” recorded on its 2022 debut Volume I.

On Monday, Jan. 5, Goose shocked fans with the long-awaited announcement of its new drummer Cotter Ellis, introducing the revised lineup’s transformed sound with a ripping half-hour audition stream and Ted Tapes 2024, a nine-track improvised instrumental album. To amplify its audience’s anticipation even further, the band dropped its summer tour plans the next day, revealing 15 stops across the US including two festival headline performances at Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie and Northlands Music & Arts Festival.
