Widespread Panic have postponed their impending Chicago concerts. The initial slate of appearances would have occurred from Feb. 15-17 but has ultimately been pushed to Feb. 18-March 1. Apart from the postponement, which resulted from unexpected health issues impacting a band member, the group followed up and dropped a new single, “We Walk Each Other Home.”

The band’s postponement was announced via social media and their official website on Wednesday evening, Feb. 14, hours before the intended start of their Windy City stand, writing, “One of our brothers ran into some unexpected health issues. Regretfully, the band must postpone and reschedule the Chicago Theatre shows to February 28, 29, and March 1. We thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing you in two weeks!”

On the heels of the delay, Widespread Panic delivered a make-good to fans, dropping their second single in less than three weeks and follow-up to “Little by Little,” the acoustic-driven “We Walk Each Other Home.” Notably, the Athens band debuted their new song live on Friday, July 28, 2024, during their three-night stand at the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville, Ala. The new track was also added to the band’s sets in August, October, and December, most recently on Jan. 20, 2024, during their Stifel Theatre stand in St. Louis.

Fan comments on social media following the official single drop directed a connection between the song’s title, “We Walk Each Other Home,” a notable title used by spiritual teacher and yoga guru Ram Dass, in his co-write with Mirabai Bush, Walking Each Other Home: Conversations on Loving and Dying, which touches on love and death with direction for the end-of-life journey.

Before “Little by Little” and “We Walk Each Other Home,” Widespread Panic’s previous releases included the 2015 LP Street Dogs, which peaked at No. 53 on the Billboard 200 chart.
