Phish Unearth ‘90s Recordings for Hurricane Recovery Benefit
November 13, 2024
In response to the recent catastrophic weather in Florida and North Carolina, Phish will release official audio recordings of two shows in the affected states. The archival material–an August 2, 1993 staging in Tampa, Fla., and an October 2, 1994 show in Boone, N.C.–will arrive Tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 14. Proceeds will go towards Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton relief efforts via local nonprofits.
Recorded by Paul Languedoc and mastered by Fred Kevorkian, both of the impending live offerings mark crucial moments in Phish history, with the 1993 performance featuring Joe Rooney of FirstBorn as well as several breakouts, and the fall 1994 show being the first and only at Boone’s Appalachian State University.
Before the official release, fans can get a taste of the forthcoming selections via SiriusXM’s Phish Radio with Kevin Shapiro. Then, on Thursday, and going forward, folks can stream the shows via LivePhish.com and the LivePhish app.
In addition to the archival projects set to release this week, Phish’s WaterWheel Foundation will also contribute to hurricane and flood recovery efforts across affected regions in the US.
Fans who contribute to WaterWheel through FanDiemcan can enter to win a trip to Phish New Year’s Eve at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
