R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, the National’s Matt Berninger, Kim Gordon, Angel Olsen and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O will assemble March 26 at New York’s Carnegie Hall for The Music of Patti Smith, the 20th annual tribute concert series organized by City Winery founder Michael Dorf’s Michael Dorf Presents.

Also on the bill are Courtney Barnett, Sharon Van Etten, the Kills’ Alison Mosshart, Ben Harper and the Kronos Quartet, with Smith likely to take the stage as well. The house band will be led by her longtime bassist Tony Shanahan, who will be joined by Flea and drummer Steve Jordan. Additional performers will be announced.

Proceeds will benefit music education for underserved youth. Tickets are available now at a variety of levels, some of which include access to a rehearsal show the day before at City Winery and a post-Carnegie Hall party at the same venue.

The “Music Of” series has previously saluted Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Prince, Paul McCartney and Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Smith herself has performed at tributes to Bruce Springsteen, the Who and R.E.M. The show will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Smith’s landmark debut album, Horses, although organizers say it will not be performed in its entirety.

Smith, who turns 78 at the end of December, traditionally does shows in New York around New Year’s but has yet to announce any for 2024. However, she will tour Europe next summer with her Quartet, beginning July 1 in Mainz, Germany.
