5 Albums I Can’t Live Without:

1

Glass Houses, Billy Joel

This album is wall-to-wall bangers like there has never been and never will be again. It’s so damn amazing and you can’t even really say it’s a rock ‘n’ roll record even though he says it is still rock ‘n’ roll to him.

2

She’s So Unusual, Cyndi Lauper

This is the blueprint—I mean there’s just nothing else like it and the way it completely took over my life and still does to this day, it’s incredible. I’ve toured with Cyndi and got to sit on the side of the stage and sing along every night. She is truly an American treasure.

3

Crowded House, Crowded House

This still feels like a Split Enz album to me and also something altogether different. I’ve just been such a Finn fan forever. This is still the best.

4

Viva! La Woman, Cibo Matto

I interviewed them in the ‘90s and this album spun in my CD player for nearly the entire decade after it was released. You can have all the rest just leave me this one. I love them so very much.

5

Spilt Milk, Jellyfish

If I could be in any band in history, this is the band. And this album is everything. To me it’s like an opera. The breadth and scope of pop itself. How big can we get. How vast can the ear hear? It’s this. I love this so damn much.
