Morgan Wallen pleads guilty and will spend seven days incarcerated at the DUI Education Center for throwing a chair from the roof of a Nashville bar.

A judge in Nashville has sentenced country star Morgan Wallen to one week of incarceration at a DUI education center — not a jail or prison — and two years’ probation for throwing a chair from the roof of a Nashville bar. Wallen pleaded guilty to his misdemeanor charges for reckless endangerment, for which he must also pay a $350 fine and court fees.

The 31-year-old Wallen pleaded “conditionally guilty” due to judicial diversion. Should he successfully complete the terms of his probation, he will have his charges eligible for dismissal and expungement.

“Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities throughout these last eight months, directly communicating and apologizing to all involved. Mr. Wallen remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation,” said his attorney Worrick Robinson IV in a statement to People.

The country star was arrested on April 7 for throwing a chair from the roof of Chief’s Bar in Nashville. He was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. His final hearing was held in May, with his attorney Robinson attending on his behalf after Wallen waived his right to appear in court. The case was due to continue in August, but was pushed back to December.

On the day of the incident and his subsequent arrest, Wallen was reportedly not expected at the bar’s opening and hadn’t spent much time there before he allegedly threw the chair. Nashville police said two officers were standing in front of the six-story bar and restaurant when they saw a chair — allegedly thrown by Wallen — fall from the rooftop.

“I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks,” wrote Wallen in a statement on social media about the incident back in April. “I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility. I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe.”

Morgan Wallen was named Entertainer of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards, though he was not present to accept the award.
