Just days after his sentencing for tossing a chair from the balcony of another bar, the Nashville City Council has allowed Morgan Wallen’s Nashville Broadway bar sign to go up.

On December 12, Morgan Wallen appeared in court alongside his attorney. He plead ‘conditionally guilty’ when asked to enter his plea. Judge Cynthia Chappell sentenced the country star to spend seven days in a DUI education center, with supervised probation for two years. Wallen plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment.

“Upon the successful completion of his probation, the charges will be eligible for dismissal and expungement,” Wallen’s attorney Worrick Robinson noted to the press. Wallen did not make a statement to the press after the hearing, instead being escorted away by several security guards.

Wallen was accused of throwing a chair from the roof of Chief’s bar on April 7, narrowly missing two police officers who stood nearby. Witnesses told officers they saw Wallen pick up and toss the chair off of the rooftop, laughing while he did it. Shortly after the incident, Wallen released a statement saying he was taking responsibility for the incident and that he “was not proud” of his behavior.

The Nashville Metro Council originally voted to postpone the installation of the Broadway sign following the necessary permits be granted.

Now just a week later, the Nashville Metro Council voted to approve the Morgan Wallen Broadway sign that will hang above the main entrance of his ‘Wallen’s This Bar and Tennessee Kitchen.’ Several council members spoke about their concerns based on the chair-throwing incident and the 2021 racial slur incident. Despite the voiced concerns, the new Broadway sign was ultimately approved with a 30-1 vote with six abstentions.

Fans on social media have already captured other signage that is attached to the bar, including one that is shaped like the state of Tennessee. The Broadway sign will stick out from the front of the building with ‘Morgan’ perched atop a red and white lettered Wallen’s. The sign features a ‘This Bar’ logo underneath.
