Los Angeles wildfire cancellations

Firefighters are continuing to battle multiple wildfires around Los Angeles county. With fires still largely uncontained, several venues across LA have either canceled or postponed shows. Here’s a peek at some of the cancellations.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic issued a notice yesterday announcing several performances at the Walt Disney Concert Hall have been canceled or postponed. The ‘Schumann & Brahms’ performances for January 9 – 12 were outright canceled, while the Cody Fry with Orchestra performance scheduled for tonight was postponed. A new date will be communicated to ticket holders.

Indie pop band Bad Bad Hats announced that their show for January 9 at The Echo was postponed, with no replacement dates announced at the time of writing.

The Echoplex has canceled upcoming shows for singer-songwriter Glaive scheduled for January 10 and 11. Meanwhile, an Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel canceled his January 9 performance at the Smothers Theatre. The John Jorgenson Quintet with Frank Vignola at the Smothers Theatre scheduled for January 11 has been canceled as well.

An art opening and performance by Pussy Riot founder Nadya Tolokonnikova has been moved from January 10 to Saturday January 18 at the Honor Fraser art gallery because of the wildfires. Yacht rockers Ambrosia have had their show at the Venice West postponed and moved to February 5. The Wiltern postponed several Jeff Arcuri dates from January 8 & 9 to January 14 and 15.

Annika Rose’s show on January 8 at The Troubadour venue has been moved from January 8 to January 23, the singer has announced. Quinn Sullivan and Hamish Anderson’s show on January 9 was also postponed, with no new date announced yet.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences CEO Bill Kramer announced the nominations voting window for the Oscars would be extended two days to January 14 due to wildfires. The Academy also postponed announcing the Oscar nominations this year from January 17 to January 19.

Harvelle’s in Santa Monica has announced due to curfews and the proximity to the warning zone, the venue is closed. Whisky A Go Go has told its patrons that its shows will continue, with System of a Clown, Blaxmyth, Leave It To Cleaver, Bliss53, Trendkill Revolution, Arch Revenant, Back in Autumn, Kella Sin scheduled to perform tonight.
