Rosé Reigns Again on ARIA Chart With ‘APT.’

Rosé extends her reign over the ARIA Singles Chart, while Sabrina Carpenter bags another crown on the national albums survey.

On the latest tally, published Friday, January 10th, Rosé and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” (via Warner) logs a ninth non-consecutive week atop the leaderboard. That’s the longest-running leader for a duet in five years, since Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart” dominated for 10 weeks back in 2020-21.

Both recordings have an Australian connection. Rosé was born in New Zealand and raised in Melbourne before heading to South Korea as a teenager – and turned the pop world inside-out as a member of Blackpink. “Cold Heart” was, of course,” remixed by Sydney electronic music act PNAU.

British DJ Chrystal lands her first ARIA Top 10 as “The Days (Notion Remix)” (Polydor /Universal) gains 18-7, while SZA’s “BMF,” housed by the “Lana” edition of her 2022 LP SOS (RCA/Sony), is also on the climb, up 27-17.

It’s that time of year, as Christmas hurtles into history, the domestic Test cricket series is in the books and new music is noticeable for its absence on the charts.

American country superstar Morgan Wallen scores the top new entry on the singles tally with “Smile” (Mercury/Universal), new at No. 36. “Smile” is his seventh ARIA Top 50, including leaders with “Last Night” and his Post Malone collaboration “I Had Some Help”. The new track will appear on Wallen’s forthcoming fourth album, the followup to his ARIA Chart-leading 2023 collection One Thing at a Time; it’s expected to drop in 2025.

The highest ranked homegrown track on the national chart is Vance Joy’s evergreen, 16-times platinum certified “Riptide” (Mushroom), up 25-21. Meanwhile, Sonny Fodera, D.O.D & Jazzy’s club ready track from 2024, “Somedays” (ADA/Warner), finally cracks the chart at No. 34.

Royel Otis’ viral cover of “Linger (SiriusXM Session)” continues its ascent, up 46-37, a new peak position. Led by Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic, the Sydney alternative rock part are currently working on new music, Rolling Stone AU/NZ reports. All told, four Australian-made tracks appear on the latest frame.

Over on the ARIA Albums Chart, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet (via Island/Universal) nabs a 10th week at the summit. That’s the longest streak at the top spot by a female artist since Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) spent 14 weeks on top in 2023-24, ARIA notes.

The top new albums chart entry belongs to Lil Baby, whose Wham (Motown/Universal) debuts at No. 42. That’s the U.S. rapper’s third solo album to chart here after My Turn (No. 20 in 2020) and It’s Only Me (No. 7 in 2022) His collaborative album with Lil Durk, The Voice Of The Heroes, peaked at No. 20 in 2021.

Cold Chisel’s 50 Years – The Best Of (Cold Chisel/Universal) remains the sole homegrown album in the top 50, dipping 25-39.
