Umphrey’s McGee Join TOOL Live in the Sand Destination Event with Primus, Mastodon, Eagles of Death Metal and More

As if some of the most iconic names of alternative metal set against tropical paradise were not already convincing enough, TOOL have expanded their Live in the Sand destination event today with the addition of Umphrey’s McGee to the lineup. UM will join an already stacked bill and the legendary progressive metal headliners in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from March 7-9. TOOL will deliver two full sets on the beach and welcome contributions from ten other beloved bands

Speaking to the headliners’ enthusiasm, bassist Justin Chancellor stated “We couldn’t be more thrilled to share the news that Primus, Mastodon, and Coheed and Cambria will be joining us for our first-ever Caribbean performance at ‘TOOL in the Sand.’ 2025 is shaping up nicely. TOOL in the Sand arrives not only as the iconic group’s first-ever all-inclusive event, but also its first performances in the Caribbean. After Primus, Mastodon, Coheed and Cambria and now Umphrey’s McGee, the bill will feature performances from Eagles of Death Metal, King’s X, Fishbone, Wheel, CKY and Moonwalker. The immersive experience will be further elevated with visual production from longtime TOOL collaborators Alex Grey and Allyson Grey.

Umphrey’s McGee’s performance during the concert getaway (slated for March 9 on the band’s website) will fall in the middle of a jam-packed 29-date winter tour, beginning on Thursday, Jan. 16 and running through March 22. After the tour, Umphey’s will embark on a concert getaway of their own with the first-ever Morrockshow in Marrakesh, Morocco on April 18 and 20.
