Premiere: Del McCoury Band “Once Again” from Forthcoming Record ‘Almost Proud’

On February 18, the Del McCoury Band will return with a new studio album. Almost Proud presents 12 tracks from the quintet, which the band’s namesake and bluegrass icon selected from over 200 potential songs. He reveals, “I’m as excited about listening to new music today as the day I started—finding a new tune or a story that tickles me. This album is the best of what I heard while the world was on pause.”

Today we premiere “Once Again” from the forthcoming record which is now available for pre-order and pre-save.  Josh Shilling, adds piano to this song, joining the Del and the Boys (Ronnie McCoury on mandolin, Rob McCoury on banjo, bassist Alan Bartram and fiddler Jason Carter). The elder McCoury tells Relix, “Josh Shilling knows how much I love Jerry Lee Lewis songs, and that I really enjoy when I can add a piano to what we do…so when he wrote this song with Bill Whyte, he said he had me in mind.  And well, it’s just a really good song and I’m glad he did. Also glad he is playing piano on it.”

The Del McCoury Band wrap up their current tour this weekend with a show tonight in Washington, DC at The Hamilton Live and then on Saturday in Albany at The Egg’s Kitty Carlisle Hart Theatre.
