Episode 115 of The JamBase Podcast, a partner of the Osiris Media Network, features an interview with Freekbass. JamBase’s Scott Bernstein spoke with the acclaimed bassist about his upcoming Funk The World Tour 2022 and many additional topics.

Freekbass was previously interviewed by Scotty in 2019, when the bassist discussed “The Art Of The Sit-In” in New York City. Bernstein caught up with Freekbass remotely this time around. The bassist and his Bump Assembly ensemble launch the Funk The World Tour 2022, Part 1 at Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati on March 25. That night will feature a Funkadelic and Kiss mashup theme as will shows in Louisville on March 26 and Columbus on March 27. Additional stops follow at Brooklyn Bowl on March 30 as well as in Delaware, Virginia and South Carolina with more to be announced.

The run marks Freekbass’ return to touring after two years off the road due to the pandemic. Freekbass talked about the Bump Assembly lineup for the tour, which includes former Turkuaz members Sammi Garett and Greg Sanderson. He also discussed how Kiss fits in with Funkadelic for the upcoming mashup concerts and his excitement to tour.

Freekbass quickly pivoted when COVID-19 forced him off the road to start a variety show. “SATURDAY-NITE-ChitChat” airs each Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on the JamBase Facebook page when he’s not on tour. The bassist recalled his favorite episodes of the livestreamed program. Other topics discussed were the new music he’s put out over the past few years, collaborating with Karina Rykman and what the rest of 2022 will hold for Freekbass.
