Episode 108 of The JamBase Podcast, a partner of the Osiris Media Network, features the return of Goose guitarist Rick Mitarotonda and multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach. The pair spoke with JamBase’s Scott Bernstein via video chat to discuss the band’s eventful 2021.

The conversation took place this past weekend and started with discussion of Goose’s recent New Year’s Eve run of concerts at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre. Rick and Peter, who previously appeared on The JamBase Podcast in December of 2020 recalled the decision to move forward with the shows in the wake of COVID-19 cases spiking, dusting off “Circle Of Life” to ring in 2022 and how they put the setlists together for the two-night stand.

Mitarotonda, Anspach and Bernstein then went back to the start of Goose’s 2021 for a recap of a year that the band began by recording a cover of Vampire Weekend’s song “2021.” Next, talk turned to Shenanigans Nite Club, the first Goose studio album in five years.

Discussion then moved on to the variety of side projects Goose members took part in over the year with a focus on Vasudo. Rick and Peter went on to share memories from standout concerts the quintet played in 2021, the changes to their respective rigs and percussionist Jeff Arevalo‘s first full year as member of Goose. The pair also spoke about their Fred The Festival event on the site of the LOCKN’ Festival in Arrington, Virginia.

Other topics hit upon were Shenanigans Nite Club the movie, their Austin Powers 2-themed Halloween concert and the heartbreaking decision to postpone Goosemas. Finally, Rick and Peter discussed their excitement to return to the road for a winter tour and to play the rescheduled Goosemas at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on February 26.
