Moonalice Unveil Acoustic Companion EP ‘Mother & Child’

Acclaimed Bay Area psychedelic soul collective Moonalice are set to captivate the music scene with the release of their new EP, Mother & Child. This latest offering serves as an acoustic companion piece to their electrifying release, Father & Son. The Father & Son EP is scheduled to be released on Dec. 8 via Nettwerk, with Mother & Child following on Dec. 29.
To celebrate the announcement, the collective dropped the acoustic EP’s debut single, “Can You Feel It” (Acoustic), a fresh and dynamic take on the electric version released just last month. It provides a raw and vivid perspective on the song’s emotional depth, making it a compelling addition to the Moonalice repertoire.
Guitarist Roger McNamee elucidated the meaning behind the original track, emphasizing the importance of expressing feelings to loved ones when words might fall short. “Each of us has important people in our lives,” he shared. “People we like a lot. People we love. We want those people to know how we feel, but sometimes, it is hard to find the words for what we feel. If this sounds familiar, share this song with them. They will get it right away.”
The 10-piece ensemble brings together a talented group of musicians who are not just bandmates but a family. The ensemble comprises the father-son duo of Lester and Dylan Chambers, the vocal trio of Erika, Chloe, and Rachel Tietjen, and a collective of musicians who have shared the stage for so long that they consider each other as brothers: Barry Sless, Pete Sears, John Molo, Jason Crosby, and McNamee.
Moonalice’s upcoming releases feature an array of songs that explore the profound familial bonds that connect generations. Tracks like “Old & Proud,” “Attics of My Life” and today’s release celebrate these unbreakable ties.
Equipped with new music, Moonalice’s family tree grows, and its branches are set to spread out over northern California with shows at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bandshell on Nov. 10, Menlo Park, Calif.’s Guild Theatre on Nov. 30 followed by shows at the Odd Fellows Lodge in Auburn, Calif., on Dec. 1 and the Hop Monk Tavern in Sebastopol, Calif., on Dec. 2.
