Ticketek rings in the changes as Phil King is appointed to lead the ticketing giant’s Australian activities.

King, who most recently served as chief commercial officer at the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA), is named as managing director of Ticketek Australia, a division of TEG, the Sydney-based ticketing, live content and data analytics giant.

In his new role, King will lead Ticketek’s client services, ticketing solutions and delivery teams to “ensure the organisation continues to deliver the very best ticketing solutions and service to our partners,” reads a corporate statement.

King will operate from TEG’s HQ, slotting into the role which previously belonged to Cameron Hoy, who, in December was promoted to the group-wide role as chief operating officer and head of global ticketing.

“TEG is delighted to welcome Phil in this vital role as we continue to grow the business, innovate, and deliver exceptional partnerships for our clients, and experiences for our customers,” comments TEG CEO Geoff Jones.

“King is a highly experienced executive with a strong track record of more than 20 years’ experience across stadia and arenas who will bring a wealth of knowledge to the business. We look forward to his appointment at TEG.”

Before his stint with SACA, King served in senior executive positions at several major venue organisations, including the Adelaide Entertainment Centre (as general manager), the International Convention Centre (director of live entertainment), and Qudos Bank Arena (commercial manager).

“I have known Phil for over 15 years. He is a highly respected industry executive who will bring a unique level of insight and understanding to Ticketek’s service delivery,” notes Hoy.

“I look forward to working closely with him in his new role at TEG.”

Adds King, “I am delighted to join the TEG Group at this exciting time where the organisation is growing at a rapid pace. Ticketek is one of the most innovative, all-encompassing organisations within the live events industry and I look forward to becoming part of the fabric that tells Ticketek’s next story.”

Founded in 1979, Ticketek’s Australian presence sells over 23 million tickets to more than 20,000 events each year, according to a statement on its official website, including concerts at ANZ Stadium, Qudos Bank Arena, Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena, Suncorp Stadium, and Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
