The first official documentary about Led Zeppelin arrives in IMAX theaters on February 7, after years of editing and fine-tuning.

“Becoming Led Zeppelin,” the first official documentary on the legendary band, finally has a release date and a trailer, hitting IMAX theaters with early access on February 5 before a wider release on February 7. The film has undergone years of fine-tuning, with footage of the group over the years interspersed with present-day interviews, home movies, and live performances. The documentary also features a never-before-seen interview with the late John Bonham.

As the first officially authorized documentary on Led Zeppelin, the film tells the story of the British band in its members’ own words. With interviews with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones, it also features previously unseen material from all four members’ personal archives.

“We spent five years flying back and forth across the Atlantic scouring attics and basements in pursuit of rare and unseen film footage, photographs, and music recordings,” said writer and producer Allison McGourty. “Then we transferred each piece of media with custom techniques, so that in IMAX, these 55-year-old clips and music would look and sound like they came out of the lab yesterday.”

According to director Bernard MacMahon, the film also contains previously unseen footage from the band’s 1969 concerts at the Atlanta Pop Festival, the Fillmore West, and the Texas Pop Festival.
