“Ben The Sax Guy” Subs for Jeff Coffin at Dave Matthews Band’s MSG Run

After saxophonist Jeff Coffin tested positive for COVID-19, Dave Matthews Band trucked forward with their two-night Madison Square Garden run on Nov. 12 and 13.

Ben Golder-Novick aka “Ben The Sax Guy” appeared as a replacement in the brass section for both shows.

Highlights from the run included a night one encore kicking off with “Singing from the Windows,” Matthews’ pandemic-era tune, inspired by the Italian people in lockdown who kept music alive by serenading their neighbors.

Night two included two tour debuts, namely, a mid-set “Water Into Wine” and an encored “The Last Stop” which bled into a finale of “Ants Marching.”
