Beyoncé is a generational icon, and she’s paving the way for the next generation of artists — including her own daughter, Blue Ivy.

On Monday, December 9, Beyoncé and Blue Ivy attended the Hollywood premiere of Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King. In the movie, Beyoncé reprises her role as Nala from the 2019 remake of The Lion King, while 12-year-old Blue makes her acting debut as Kiara, the daughter of Nala and Simba (voiced by Donald Glover in both movies) in Mufasa.

During the premiere, Bey, 43, took to her Instagram page to share a loving note to Blue upon her big moment.

“My gorgeous baby girl,” wrote Bey in the post’s caption. “This is your night. You worked hard and you did such a beautiful job as the voice of Kiara. Your family could not be prouder. Keep shining.”

On Tuesday, December 10, the morning after the premiere, Good Morning America shared a behind-the-scenes clip of the “Texas Hold ‘Em” hitmaker and Blue recording their voice parts for the film.

“If I told my younger self that I was in a movie, I’d like, never believe myself,” said Blue.

Elsewhere in the clip, a joyous and tearful Beyoncé expressed excitement for her daughter, saying, “Seeing Blue as Kiara and hearing her voice come out of that character, it’s really hard to focus and do my job after that…I’m so proud of her.”

Mufasa tells the story of the namesake character from childhood to adulthood. Though it takes place years before the events of The Lion King, Beyoncé, Glover, and Blue will make their voice appearances in a future timeline within the movie in some capacity.

Fans can look forward to seeing Mufasa: The Lion King when it arrives in theaters on Friday, December 20.
