Billy Strings is officially booked for a Thanksgiving Day special on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. On Thursday, Nov. 28, alongside guest stars Jerry Seinfeld and Cody Rhodes, the bluegrass torchbearer will make his debut on Fallon’s late-night talk show, delivering a performance of selections from his recently released project Highway Prayers. Tune in to watch the show live at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
Highway Prayers, Strings’ sixth studio album, arrived on Sept. 27 via Reprise Records to widespread acclaim. Across a whopping 20 new original tracks, the golden boy of bluegrass expands on his ever-changing sound, folding touches of psychedelia, outlaw country, hard rock and more while maintaining his well-earned traditional credibility. Among its mounting accolades, Strings’ project earned the rare honor of claiming the top spot on the October 12 Billboard Top Album Sales Chart, marking the first time that a bluegrass LP has achieved this milestone since the soundtrack to the Coen Brothers’ 2002 film O Brother, Where Art Thou? Strings seemed to wink at that achievement with his Halloween performances in Baltimore, which saw the superstar cover the soundtrack with 11 special guests, including Tim Blake Nelson.
After his appearance on The Tonight Show, Strings will conclude a packed year of performances with nine more shows. The artist will assume the spotlight at Memphis, Tenn.’s FedExForum on Dec. 6 and 7, then, after one-off shows in Tulsa, Okla. and Fort Worth, Texas on Dec. 10 and 12, he’ll close out 2024 with a pair of dates at Austin, Texas’ Moody Theater and Center on Dec. 13 and 14 and a three-night New Year’s Eve run from Dec. 29-31 at Uno Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
Strings will return from hibernation to ring in the new year at Denver’s Ball Arena from Jan. 24-26, kicking off his recently announced Winter Tour. From there, he’ll hop over to Asheville, N.C. for a striking six shows at ExploreAsheville.com Arena from Feb. 6-16. Strings will then make his way down the coast with two nights at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on Feb. 21 and 22 before greeting his adoring public in Music City with stands at Nashville, Tenn.’s Bridgestone Arena on Feb. 28 and March 1. The lead-footed road warrior’s run will finally conclude on March 2, when Strings takes the stage across town at Ryman Auditorium, the storied Mother Church of Country.
