Blues legend Charlie Musselwhite has signed with Forty Below Records, and announced a forthcoming release this spring. Tomorrow, January 10, Musselwhite will preview his latest project with a single, “Storm Warning,” which will be his first release with the LA-based label.

Friday’s single promises a return to form for Musselwhite, with soulful, hypnotic and rollicking grooves from beginning to end. “The beat came from an old gospel tune,” said Musselwhite of “Storm Warning.” “I just had it rolling around in my head until I caught the scent and found the trail that led to the melody and lyrics.”

The record was recorded at San Jose, Calif.’s Greaseland Studio, and marks Musselwhite’s first time on tape with his longtime touring band, which consists of Matt Stubbs on guitar, June Core on drums, Randy Burmudes on bass and guitarist Kid Andersen. “Working with an artist of Charlie’s caliber is an honor and privilege,” said Forty Below Records founder and producer Eric Corne. “He’s one of the most iconic Blues musicians working today, and we look forward to taking his legacy to the next level.”

“Storm Warning” is available for pre-save now.
