After a review of the evidence, country singer Chris Young is cleared of all charges by the Nashville District Attorney.

Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk has dismissed all charges against country singer Chris Young following his arrest on January 22 at Nashville’s DawgHouse Saloon. Young had been charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest.

“Regarding the Chris Young incident, after a review of all the evidence in this case, the Office of the District Attorney has determined that these charges will be dismissed,” wrote Funk.

According to an affidavit for his arrest, Young had pulled his ID out for a compliance check by the Alcoholic Beverage Commission while out drinking at Tin Roof on Monday, January 22, around 8:30 PM. Young began asking questions and then he and his friends allegedly followed the officers to the DawgHouse Saloon as they continued their compliance checks.

“While walking out the door, Mr. Young put his hands out to stop me from leaving the bar and struck me on the shoulder. I then pushed Mr. Young to create distance since I had no idea of who Mr. Young was or what he had,” read the affidavit.

Chris Young was taken into custody and then released on bond. However, his attorney has claimed that account to be inaccurate. Reviewing evidence and security footage revealed that “Young could be seen reaching his hand out to the agent, who then pushed the singer, causing him to stumble backward and fall over a table and chair.” As a result, the charges against him were ultimately dropped.

“Mr. Young and I are gratified with the DA’s decision clearing him of the charges and any wrongdoing,” said Young’s attorney, Bill Ramsey, in a statement.

Chris Young rose to prominence in 2006 as the fourth season winner of singing competition program “Nashville Star.” He signed to RCA Records Nashville and released his self-titled debut album that same year, featuring the Hot Country singles “Drinkin’ Me Lonely” and “You’re Gonna Love Me.”

He has released five albums, with his most recent, I’m Comin’ Over, dropping in late 2015. Young became a member of the Grande Ole Opry in 2017.
