Dead & Company have confirmed a six-weekend residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas. The performances will take place from May 16-June 22. The dates will primarily take place from Thursdays-Saturdays, except during Memorial Day weekend, during which Dead & Company will play Friday-Sunday.

Rumors regarding Dead & Company’s Sin City dates arrived Wednesday morning when the band teased their impending return to the stage with cascading imagery across the rounded venue–attributed to the original San Francisco jamband and used by the latest iteration with Bobby Weir, Mikey Hart, John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jay Lane and Jeff Chimenti. Featured was the classic Stealie positioned over a tie-dye background.

Verification arrived later in the day when all band members followed the lead of Dead & Company’s official Instagram page, unveiling a video that bestowed: “In 2023, Dead & Company played their final tour. But there are other ways to make sure the music never stops.” The posts ignited a firestorm of commentary prior to the official confirmation, which arrived today, Feb. 1.

Even before this week’s rumblings, fans of the band had an ear to the group, absorbing information that might lead to the preferred results. Notably, on Dec. 14, 2023, the New York Post published an article suggesting Dead & Company was in talks with The Sphere for some sort of appearance.

Later on, during CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage, on Dec. 31, 2023, Mayer appeared as a virtual guest, chatting with longtime Grateful Dead fan Andy Cohen and co-host Anderson Cooper from a Japanese cat cafe. During the interview, Cohen asked about the future of Dead & Company, to which Mayer responded in part, “Have hope.”
