Drake’s OVO Draws Investment from Sony Music-Partnered Santa Anna Label Group
Santa Anna Label Group has announced an investment and partnership with Drake’s OVO Sound imprint to provide additional artist and label services.
Together, the partnership will support Santa Anna Label Group’s commitment to entrepreneurs looking to maximize their creative potential. OVO Sound will remain a stand-alone record label distributed and marketed through Santa Anna Label Group.
Through the partnership, OVO Sound will receive additional A&R support, production, finance and accounting, marketing and promotion, as well as artist and label services to grow OVO Sound’s business to attract, retain, and promote Canadian and international artists.
“After 10 years, it’s exciting to reunite with the OVO Sound team to collaborate on new ways to support their impressive roster of artists,” adds Santa Anna Founder Todd Moscowitz. “Together, I look forward to working with a best-in-class management team to develop opportunities to help scale their business and take their artistry to new heights.”
Todd Moscowitz worked under Lyor Cohen as head of Rush Communications before transitioning to other positions at Violator, Def Jam, and Asylum Records. Following his tenure at Warner Music, he helped co-found indie label 300 Entertainment. In 2016, Moscowitz established Cold Heat Records, which was renamed to Alamo Records. He partnered with Sony Music Entertainment in early 2023 to found Santa Anna Label Group.
“OVO has always been about music first. Together with Drake, 40, and Oliver, we’re excited to partner with like-minded people in Todd, lee, and the Santa Anna team,” adds Mr. Morgan, President of OVO Sound. “We feel strongly that the combination of our teams will allow for both our current and future artists to flourish.”
Drake founded OVO Sound in 2012 with Noah ‘40’ Shehib, and Oliver El-Khalib. Current artists signed to the OVO roster include PARTYNEXTDOOR, Majid Jordan, Naomi Sharon, Roy Woods, Smiley, Popcaan, and several Drake collaborations with artists such as Bad Bunny, Central Cee, Blocboy JB, and Dave.
This new partnership comes on the heels of OVO Sound artist PARTYNEXTDOOR’s highly anticipated album ‘P4’ which is set to be released some time in Q1 2024.
