Eggy kicked off their New Year’s run at Buffalo, NY’s Electric City on Friday night. The show fell on the third night of Hanukkah and the Connecticut quartet celebrated with a number of nods to the Festival of Lights. During a set-closing version of “Sweat Equity,” Eggy jammed on “The Dreidel Song” and also worked in some “Iko Iko” quotes. Then, during their encore, they teased “Ma’oz Tzur,” a poem often recited after the Hanukkah candle lighting, while covering Big Thief’s “Time Escaping.”

Eggy also revived their cover of the Grateful Dead’s “West L.A. Fadeaway” for the first time since June 11, 2022. Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein recently played a series of shows in Hawaii with Bill Kreutzmann.

The group will perform at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY tomorrow.
