Episode 110 of The JamBase Podcast, a partner of the Osiris Media Network, features an interview with Aoife O’Donovan. The singer-songwriter spoke to JamBase’s Andy Kahn about her new solo album, Age Of Apathy, which it out now on Yep Roc Records.

The interview happened a few days before the release of Age Of Apathy. Taking place over a video call, O’Donovan spoke to Kahn from her home in Florida.

O’Donovan recorded Age Of Apathy at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, near the home she moved into in September 2020. O’Donovan talked to Kahn about that experience, which involved her taking up residence at the school and allowing students to observe her recording sessions with engineer Darren Schneider.

O’Donovan talked about taking those recordings and sending them to producer Joe Henry, who remotely worked on the tracks from his studio in Maine. She described working remotely with the other musicians who contributed to the album, including Allison Russell, Madison Cunningham and others.

The interview also touched on what inspired O’Donovan to release her first solo album since 2016, the evolution of her songwriting process over the course of her career and more. She also discussed the prospects of new music from I’m With Her, the terrific trio she is a part of with Sara Watkins and Sarah Jarosz.
