Episode 92 of The JamBase Podcast, a partner of the Osiris Media Network, features an interview with Anderson East. JamBase’s Andy Kahn talked to East about his new album, Maybe We Never Die, which comes out tomorrow, Friday, August 20 on Elektra/Low Country Sound.

A Nashville resident for many years, East was at home when he spoke to Kahn recently over a video call. The discussion centered around Maybe We Never Die, which saw East exploring a new sonic palette, and he discussed how it came from having a totally open mind and trying to have as few restrictions as possible when it came time to record.

East detailed the role Philip Towns, who he’s worked with regularly, played in shaping the sound on the album. East also described working with his friend and longstanding collaborator, producer Dave Cobb, who helped record the album in Nashville. Anderson talked about his relationship with Cobb and how it evolved over their many years of working together.

Sticking in the realm of collaboration, East explained his songwriting process and working with others to craft some of the songs on the album. The interview touched on how East responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and how isolation influenced his songwriting. East also talked about getting back to touring and performing in public, taking the songs on Maybe We Never Die on the road and much more.
