Members from renowned bands, including Phish, The Meters, Grateful Dead, Furthur, and more, will converge at the Portland House of Music in Portland, Maine, for the Go Big For Hunger (GBFH) benefit event on March 8. The global campaign was created to realize John Lennon’s vision of a world without hunger and, more specifically, serves as a channel to find a solution to childhood hunger in Maine.

The GBFH All-Star Band will showcase the talents of Jon Fishman, George Porter Jr., Tom Constanten, Melvin Seals, John Kadlecik, and Wally Ingram. They will be joined by Downeast Dead, Darby Sabin & Friends, Frank Bang 3, and special guest performers.

Greg Martens, the promoter and founder of GBFH, expressed his strong sentiments regarding the issue of child hunger, stating, “As we are all aware, any number of children living with hunger here in Maine or anywhere is unacceptable.” He went on to explain that he initiated Go Big For Hunger with the aim of raising funds to support Full Plates Full Potential, a prominent anti-hunger organization in Maine. Martens further emphasized his appreciation for his friends who have stepped up to fill the stage and pack the venue, all in the name of enjoying the music while contributing to this noble cause.

In addition to the recently announced March 8 event, Go Big For Hunger has two more all-star benefit shows lined up for March 2 and 3, featuring a lineup that includes Oteil Burbridge, Cyril Neville, Tom Constanten, Rob Derhak, Wally Ingram, and Steve Kimock.
