Great Southern Nights has announced its return for 2025, sharing its first announcement of artists and venues across its three-week stint between late March and early April. The concert series, originally conceived by ARIA and Destination NSW in 2020, intends to showcase and promote live music locations across the state of New South Wales. More details on the program, as well as a link to the full gig guide, can be found below.

Among the first line-up’s marquee acts are Lime Cordiale, who will perform an intimate show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre – playing there for the first time in nearly eight years. “We’re so keen to be doing something different for Great Southern Nights,” the band said in a joint press statement. “These guys are pumping a bunch of support into the [New South Wales] live music industry. Aussie venues, especially the smaller ones, are important for the development of musical acts – it’s a long way to the top, right?”

Elsewhere in the first announcement sees ARIA Hall Of Famer Missy Higgins performing at Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul, Ben Lee performing at the Orange Entertainment Centre, Auckland band The Beths heading to Crowbar Sydney and King Stingray performing at Newcastle’s King Street Bandroom. In a press statement, Annabelle Herd – the CEO of ARIA – said that it was “a privilege” for the Great Southern Nights team to “continue fuelling… the momentum in our music community”.

“From intimate venues in small towns to iconic city stages, these nights are about celebrating the astounding talent of our artists, and sparking human connection in our communities,” she said. John Graham – the Minister for the Arts – added that Great Southern Nights intends to “boost live music and vibrancy across NSW”. “[The state] has an incredible history of pub rock, east-coast touring and outdoor shows,” he said. “We hope Great Southern Nights will remind people just how good our live music scene can be.”

Some 50-plus shows will take place across New South Wales from Thursday, March 20th to Sunday, April 6th. The full list of shows can be found by visiting the official Great Southern Nights website, with tickets for all shows on sale now.
