Do I need a mic preamp if I have an audio interface?

An audio interface already includes a built-in mic preamp, so you don’t need an additional one. Audio interfaces are designed to provide the necessary preamp gain to connect and record condenser microphones, which typically require 48V phantom power and gain adjustment, both of which are features usually found in audio interfaces.
