DJs use turntables primarily for mixing and scratching routines in order to create a unique and entertaining sound during a performance. They also use them to manipulate the pitch and tempo of tracks and to add effects such as echo or reverb. The ability to control two or more turntables at once is a fundamental skill in DJing.
