The most common drum kit consists of five main components: the snare drum, the bass drum, one or more tom-toms, a cymbal, and a drum stool. Usually, there are two or three tom-toms. These five-piece kits are the most common and most recognised by the general public. Some drummers also include other percussion instruments, such as cowbells and woodblocks, within their set-up. However, these are additions to the basic five-piece kit.
