Electronic drums are smaller than acoustic drums because they don’t need to house a large drumhead or cymbal, and they use less space to house the electronic trigger mechanism that senses the hit. Also, the pads can be tightly packed closer together due to this space efficiency, allowing the whole set to be more compact. Additionally, the stands and racks for electronic drums are usually thinner and more lightweight than those for acoustic drums, which also contributes to the overall size difference.
