Can an upright piano be a grand piano?

    No, an upright piano cannot be a grand piano. These are two different types of pianos. An upright piano is also known as a vertical piano and has its strings and mechanism positioned vertically inside the case. A grand piano has its strings and mechanism along the length of the case, making it much larger and more expensive.
