Is a keyboard just a typewriter?

    A keyboard and a typewriter share some similarities as both are used for text entry, but they are not the same thing. While a typewriter is a standalone machine that prints characters on paper as you type, a keyboard is an input device connected to a computer, smartphone, or another electronic device to type digital text. Also, the technology and layout of a keyboard differ from a typewriter; for instance, a keyboard has a QWERTY layout, but a typewriter doesn’t always.
