Grand pianos are expensive primarily due to their large size and the high-quality materials used in their construction. They require a significant amount of wood, metal, and other components, many of which are handcrafted by skilled artisans. The larger soundboard and longer strings of a grand piano also contribute to a richer, more resonant sound, which is part of the reason they are preferred by professional musicians and music venues. However, this all comes at a premium price. Additionally, the process of moving and installing a grand piano is complex and labor-intensive, which also adds to the overall cost.
