Humming is produced by closing the lips and making a vibration using the vocal cords while exhaling air, without forming words or maintaining a pitch. On the other hand, singing involves forming words and maintaining a pitch, which can be more challenging if you’re not used to it or if you have concerns about your singing abilities. So, you can hum because it’s a simpler action that doesn’t require forming distinct words or maintaining a steady pitch.
