Resurfaced body cam footage shows a confrontation Ice-T had with police in May in New Jersey during a traffic stop.

The Law & Order star was pulled over for driving his Porsche 911 without a front license plate (required in both New Jersey & New York). After the officer pulled over the actor, the police officer discovered the license and registration for the car had been expired since 2021. The video appears to show the exchange of the officer confronting Ice-T about the expired plates.

It begins with Ice-T sitting calmly in his car as the officer runs his license plate number. When asked why the plates are so expired, Ice-T says he was on his way to the Department of Motor Vehicles to rectify the issue. “That’s what I’m going,” Ice-T tells the officer. The officer isn’t satisfied with that answer and questions why the vehicle has been expired for so long. Ice-T then tells the officer, “I went yesterday,” but says he ran into problems at the DMV that prevented the registration from being renewed.

Ice-T explains that the Porsche 911 has been parked since the expiration and that he is rectifying registration lapses for his seven vehicles. When the officer suggests towing the car, Ice-T becomes visibly upset. “You’re not finna tow my f*cking vehicle. Let me park it right here,” he tells the officer from inside the car.

When the officer demands the keys to the car, Ice-T responds, “If I’m not under arrest, I’m getting out of the car.” He gets out and becomes irate, pointing at the officers’ bodycam and saying, “Get this on camera, I’m a foot away from the DMV.” Eventually, the officer’s superior arrives on scene and the situation is de-escalated. Ice-T received four citations, including one for driving while on a suspended license.
