Several months after an on-stage brouhaha caused a rift between Jane’s Addiction and lead singer Perry Farrell—the rest of the band appears to be moving on without him. New music appears to be incoming.

Eric Avery shared a video from a recording session on Instagram, saying “writing some more new lines to some of Stephen’s drumming. Looking forward to getting some Mr. Navarro on them. 2025!” the caption reads. Perkins also shared the video on his Instagram page. Could Deconstruction 2.0 be in the making?

This wouldn’t be the first time Jane’s Addiction has split up and the individual members have gone their own way. In 1991 both Navarro and Avery joined together for Deconstruction. Deconstruction released one self-titled album in 1994 before Dave Navarro moved on with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Navarro has spent some time on Instagram reminiscing about those sans Farrell days.

“I think that some of the magic between Eric and I musically is most definitely evident on this project,” Navarro writes about the Deconstruction LP, which is now available on streaming services. “I’d say it’s more cinematic and soundscapey than traditional song-oriented. Perhaps that’s why it was a tough listen for some. Having revisited it after all these years I believe this record contains some of my favorite recorded playing and interplay between E’s bass and my guitar.”

While neither Navarro, Perkins, and Avery are referring to the new music as Deconstruction—they are working on new music without Farrell. The move comes just four months after Farrell attacked Navarro during a concert in Boston. Farrell had to be led off stage and soon after Jane’s Addiction released a statement canceling the rest of their reunion tour. The band cited a “continuing pattern of behavior and mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell” for the cancellation.
