Jay-Z accused of raping 13-year-old girl in 2000 with Diddy, lawsuit reveals
Jay-Z has been accused in a lawsuit of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 with Diddy, who has faced a litany of allegations in recent months.
The rapper and entrepreneur – real name Shawn Carter – has been named in a lawsuit that was originally filed in October, with Carter’s name refiled on Sunday (December 8).
In October, it was reported that lawyer Tony Buzbee was working with around 120 people to potentially file lawsuits against Diddy – real name Sean Combs – with 25 of them minors at the time of the alleged abuse.
Later that month, a lawsuit was filed by Buzbee claiming Combs – as well as another, unnamed male celebrity – raped a 13-year-old girl at a VMAs after-party in 2000. So far, Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges, with his lawyers also dismissing accusations as “clear attempts to garner publicity”. Adding: “Mr Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone – adult or minor, man or woman.”
Per NBC News, the unnamed celebrity accused of being involved is revealed to be Carter. Buzbee did not comment when approached by NBC News.
In a statement issued via Roc Nation, Carter called the allegations against him “heinous in nature”, imploring Buzbee to file the lawsuit as a “criminal complaint, not a civil one”.
“Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?” Carter wrote. “These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
Carter would level accusations against Buzbee, whom he called a “deplorable human” and an “ambulance chaser in a cheap suit” with no “honour nor dignity”. Per CNN, the lawsuit claims that attorneys representing the unnamed accuser originally reached out to Carter to request “a mediation to resolve this matter.”
The lawsuit continues: “Upon present information and belief, Jay-Z responded to said letter by not only filing an utterly frivolous lawsuit, but by also orchestrating a conspiracy of harassment, bullying and intimidation against Plaintiff’s lawyers, their families, employees and former associates in an attempt to silence Plaintiff from naming Jay-Z herein.”
“This effort was meant to scare Plaintiff and to discredit her counsel. That effort failed. Indeed, Plaintiff chose to file this amendment as a result of the egregious conduct perpetuated by Carter.”
“My only heartbreak is for my family,” Carter continued in his statement. “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.”
“I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit.”

The 55-year-old rapper continued: “I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honour. We protect children, you seem to exploit people for personal gain.”
“Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable.”
“I look forward to showing you just how different I am,” he concluded.
Tony Buzbee also took to X this morning (December 9) to address the situation. “Regarding the Jay Z case and his efforts to silence my clients: Mr. Carter previously denied being the one who sued me and my firm. He filed his frivolous case under a pseudonym,” he wrote.
“What he fails to say in his recent statement is my firm sent his lawyer a demand letter on behalf of an alleged victim and that victim never demanded a penny from him. Instead, she only sought a confidential mediation. Since I sent the letter on her behalf, Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff. His conduct has had the opposite impact,” the update continued.
“She is emboldened. I’m very proud of her resolve. As far as the allegations in the complaint filed, we will let the filing speak for itself and will litigate the facts in court, not in the media.”

Per NBC News, the lawsuit says that, in 2000, a friend dropped the plaintiff off at the VMAs, for which she did not have a ticket. She had approached various drivers for access to show or after-party, with one driver telling her he worked for Combs and she “fit what Diddy was looking for”.
The driver invited her to a VMAs after-party, telling her to return to his car once he was done transporting Carter and Combs, the lawsuit says.
The driver would pick her up, and, after 20 minutes, they would arrive at a white house with a U-shaped driveway, with the plaintiff requested to sign a document she believed was a nondisclosure agreement on arrival to enter the party, which the lawsuit claims was filled with celebrities and people partaking in marijuana and cocaine.
The then 13-year-old was offered a drink that made her feel “woozy, lightheaded” and needing to “lie down”, entering a room to rest, the lawsuit continues. She was then greeted by Carter and Combs, who entered the room with the latter saying, “You are ready to party!”, the lawsuit reveals.
She alleges that Carter removed her clothes, held her down and raped her while Combs and an unnamed female celebrity watched. She also says that Combs raped her as Carter and the woman looked on, per the lawsuit.
The lawsuit says that she resisted being forced to perform oral sex on Combs by hitting him in the neck and that he “stopped.” After the alleged assault, she “grabbed her clothes” and left, making her way to a gas station where she called her father, the lawsuit says.
The accuser is seeking unspecified damages, with the lawsuit filed under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.
