John Medeski and Billy Martin to Take Part in ‘Not Not Jazz’ Documentary Screening and Conversation in New York City

his Thursday, Jan. 16, NOT NOT JAZZ, a documentary chronicling the musical career of Medeski Martin & Wood, is set to premiere at DCTV-NY’s Firehouse Cinema in New York, with special guests, including band members John Medeski and Billy Martin. Along with the two members, the special 7:00 p.m. showing will feature a question and answer section with the film’s director, Jason Miller. Medeski and Martin will also be in attendance for this session, with moderator Bill Horberg.

NOT NOT JAZZ is the product of Oscilloscope Laboratories and MVD Entertainment Group and precedes the group’s forthcoming album, which was recorded at Allaire Studios to mark 25 years since the group’s formation and is due out on Aug. 9. The film also previewed at the Woodstock Film Festival and Knoxville, Tenn.’s Big Ears Festival. 

 “I am deeply grateful to have met John, Billy, and Chris and to have been entrusted with documenting their process as musicians and exploring their personal lives,” said Miller of the collaborative project. “It’s been a long and arduous journey to get the film made and released,  and I learned a lot from them along the way. It’s my hope that everyone who watches the film will take something away as well.”
