Kanaval Ball Shares Lineup: Win Butler, Michael Brun, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and More

Kanaval Ball has announced that the co-founder of Arcade Fire, Win Butler, and noted Latin Grammy-winning Haitian DJ/producer, Michael Brun, have been added to the lineup. The free indoor festival will take place on Jan. 9 at The Fillmore Philadelphia.

World-renowned Preservation Hall Jazz Band and prominent Haitian bands RAM and Boukman Eksperyans will perform during the one-night celebration. Haitian folkloric dance company Nadia Dieudonné & Feet of Rhythm will also take the stage.

In a press release, the intent behind the festival is being described as an opportunity to “help illuminate the essential role Haiti has played in New Orleans’ culture for more than 200 years.”

The event will cap Philadelphia public radio stations WXPN’s year-long exploration of Haiti’s influence on the music and culture of the Big Easy, with a recreation of the New Orleans celebrations that take place before Mardi Gras.

The public is encouraged to attend the free, all-ages Kanaval Ball. RSVP for the event here

Doors open at 4 p.m. ET on Jan. 9 at The Fillmore Philadelphia. For additional information, please visit the festival’s website
