Kano Explores His Jamaican Heritage In New Short Film

A Blessed Place focusses on his roots…

Kano has shared his beautiful new short film A Blessed Place.

The rapper is rightly lauded for his incredible impact on British music, yet Kano’s career in film and television shouldn’t be discounted, either.

New short film A Blessed Place is a deeply personal insight into his roots, with the visual project serving as a love letter to Jamaica.

Constructed alongside Aneil Karia – who worked with Kano on his fantastic ‘Trouble’ video – it’s an evocative glimpse into Caribbean life.

Aneil comments…

“Collaborating with Kano is always a pleasure. Whenever we work together on a film – whether it’s fact or fiction – the M.O is always to capture the ‘reality’ as deeply as possible. With this piece, we wanted the viewer to be able to actually breathe in the Jamaica that Kano knows and loves. To make something intimate, personal…sensory”.

Shot in Kingston and Browns Town, A Blessed Place dips into Kano’s own heritage, and looks at the cultural background behind Duppy White – a new white rum crafted by Kano in partnership with Duppy Share Caribbean Rums.
