The official swearing-in ceremony will be taking place on Monday (January 20), and a number of events will be held in the run-up to the moment.
It was confirmed earlier this week that Carrie Underwood will be the musical guest performer for the main ceremony where Trump becomes the 47th President of the United States – set to sing ‘America the Beautiful’ on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.
Now, the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee has revealed more famous names joining the line-up for the celebration events, which kick off on Sunday (January 19). These include Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus and the Liberty University Praise Choir performing at the Make America Great Again Victory Rally on Sunday.
Also joined by Lee Greenwood and Village People – who were confirmed earlier this week – the event will begin at 3pm. ET at Capital One Arena in D.C.
Three different balls are planned for the inauguration night on Monday. For the Liberty Ball, performances are lined-up again from Village People, as well as by Jason Aldean and “a surprise musical guest”. For the Starlight Ball, Gavin DeGraw will take to the stage, and the Commander-In-Chief Ball will see live performances from Rascal Flatts and Parker McCollum.
In a new statement (via Deadline), the committee co-chairs Steve Witkoff and Kelly Loeffler called the events “a celebration of music, unity, and patriotism, ushering in America’s new Golden Age.”
Trump’s 2017 inauguration featured performances from Rockettes, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and America’s Got Talent singer Jackie Evancho. Obama’s first inauguration in 2009 saw Aretha Franklin perform, while Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson sang at his second inauguration in 2013.
Earlier this week, Village People addressed their upcoming performance at Donald Trump‘s inauguration and said that they agreed as they think “music is to be performed without regard to politics”. They also recalled that while the appearance “won’t make some of you happy”, they hope it will “help bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost”.
Yesterday (January 15), Whoopi Goldberg defended Carrie Underwood’s decision to perform at the event, but added that she will not be watching.
The actor and chat show host has been critical of Trump’s policies in the past – even refusing to say his name after his election win.
