Krokus frontman Marc Storace has said he would be up for replacing Brian Johnson in AC/DC, should the role become available.

The frontman of the Swiss metal band was invited to audition to replace Bon Scott in the group when the singer died from acute alcohol poisoning in 1980, but passed up the opportunity as his own band were beginning to take off.

The situation arose again in 2016 when there was some suggestion that Scott’s eventual replacement Johnson was himself considering standing down from the band due to hearing problems. At that time, Storace, whose voice is often thought to resemble Scott’s, stated that he would “certainly” be keen on filling in for Johnson.

Now, in an interview with SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, Storace has been pondering whether he would be interested in taking up a third chance to join the Australian behemoths.

“Well, I’d certainly give it a try,” he said. “I mean, let’s be honest, I’d love to sing those songs and look at that audience out there. I mean, come on. Would I say no?”

When asked by the host why he turned down the initial interest in 1980, Storace explained: “If I was on a sinking ship, I would be the first rat to jump off, but I didn’t wanna rat on my friends. My loyalty to Krokus at the time was like wildfire. And for me, at that point, AC/DC the sinking ship. They just lost a great singer, a great songwriter, Bon Scott. I mean, come on. And so was I gonna take a risk?”

“I didn’t even think that far. It all happened like in the flash in my brain, all these different points and counterpoints. And it was, like, ‘Hey, no, no. Steve, no, no. Thanks for the offer, but I’m gonna sit tight and Krokus is gonna go places.’”

It appears that AC/DC might be gearing up to announce a huge North American tour for 2025, after a Facebook event was listed for the band at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on April 11 next year. The listing was quickly removed and the band have yet to comment on it.

If a North America tour does come to fruition, it’ll come on the heels of the rock veterans wrapping up the 24th and final show of their ‘Power Up’ UK and Europe tour. The last date of the extensive run took place at Croke Park in Dublin on August 17.

The tour marked their first run of shows with the new line-up, comprising singer Brian Johnson, guitarists Angus and Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug, and new bassist Chris Chaney (Jane’s AddictionAlanis Morissette).

While no official dates have been confirmed at time of writing, Johnson and co are also rumoured to be headliners for Glastonbury 2025, alongside Harry StylesTaylor SwiftOlivia RodrigoGreen Day and more.
