Kylie Minogue, Tommy Emmanuel Lead Australia’s Contingent at 2024 Grammys

Australia’s Princess of Pop and the King of The Six String were crowned at the 2024 Grammy Awards, presented Sunday (Feb. 4) at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.

Kylie Minogue won big and won early as her U.K. top 10 hit “Padam Padam” took out best pop dance recording, one of three new Grammy categories unveiled this year by The Recording Academy.

Written by Ina Wroldsen and produced by Lostboy (Griff, Anne-Marie, Tiesto), “Padam Padam” appears on Tension, Kylie’s ninth No.1 in the United Kingdom and eighth leader in Australia.

It’s her second career Grammy, following her win in the best dance recording category back in 2003 with “Come Into My World.”

Stacked up, Kylie’s collection of awards would take a day to climb.

Across her career, she’s accumulated 18 ARIA Awards, three BRIT awards, two MTV Awards and, in 2007, she became the first woman – and first foreigner – to win receive the U.K.’s coveted Music Industry Trust Award.

It’s his first Grammy win from three nominations.

Revered as one of the greatest to ever play an acoustic guitar, Emmanuel is an honorary Kentucky Colonel, a CGP (Certified Guitar Player) – presented to him by Chet Atkins, an Order of Australia Medalist (AM) and the holder of an honorary Master’s Degree (MA).

All told, six members of APRA AMCOS were honoured at the 66th annual Grammys Awards.

Among them, Melbourne’s Keanu Torres (aka Keanu Beats), who was feted for his co-writing and production work on Taylor Swift’s “Karma,” lifted from her Midnights juggernaut, which collected the night’s biggest honour, album of the year, plus best pop vocal album.

Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker (“Journey To The Real World”) and The Kid LAROI (“Forever & Again”0 can pat themselves on the back thanks to their work on Barbie The Album, which won the Grammy for best compilation soundtrack for visual media.

Also, Ben Fielding is credited as co-writer on Tye Tribett’s track “Goodness of God” on the All Things New: Live in Orlando, winner for best gospel album.
